Welcome!
The 2024 Summer Festival brings the very finest world-class musicians for you to experience in our many atmospheric venues. We passionately believe that music is for everyone, everywhere, which is why we are always searching for exciting new spaces across Cumbria to enjoy music. New this year, we are pleased to share performances at the beautiful Holker Hall and Cartmel Priory, intimate Crosthwaite Church and the picturesque Grizedale Forest.
The Festival programme also connects with the inspiring Lakeland landscape around us, be that at ground level or in the skies above through our Music of the Spheres events. Engage the senses in the soothing Sonic Soundbath sessions at Grizedale; sounds which also feature in our festival finale performance of Holst’s The Planets Suite with the Northern Chamber Orchestra.
From Baroque and Jazz to Gospel and Chamber Music, the 2024 Festival offers newcomers, families and lifelong devotees the chance to be immersed in these outstanding performances.
We continue to provide a vital launchpad for remarkable young musicians through our resident String Quartets and Debut Artists, including the much-coveted opportunity of performing alongside our eminent international artists.
In April we learned of the extremely sad loss of Renna Kellaway MBE, the festival’s founder, whose vision and inspiration has given so much to countless musicians, and to the music of the region and beyond. I hope that this year’s festival will be a testament to her dedication and generosity.
While eagerly looking ahead to our special 40th anniversary festival in 2025 when we will celebrate Renna’s outstanding legacy, may I thank everyone who has generously supported our work this year.
I look forward to welcoming you to an unforgettable summer Festival!
